I tin can't requite this 5 stars yet since we don't currently have a dog to endeavor these grooming techniques out on... Merely they seem relatively easy to follow and information technology was a quick, fun read! Information technology too fabricated me very broken-hearted to now get a puppy and then I can get to work!

Preparation Guide for Softies
This is the second time I've turned to "My Smart Puppy" to house break my puppy. Matilda trained pretty hands, so I downloaded for our latest edition, Gertrude. I recommend reading through to the stop so going back to the chapters that pertain to your dogs problems. To accept a good dog you demand to be consistent, firm and fair. I am besides going to use this to reinforce with Matilda some of the less desirable habits I have let go, such every bit jumping on visitors and dashing

It'south a great training book with helpful pictures and like shooting fish in a barrel to follow commands, only it was organized in a strange way and too cutesy with the names (some command called "almost is dearest" comes to heed and it just makes me cringe). I really liked how they frame the mindset you must have when raising a puppy, even though they had more cringe-y phrases to get with information technology ("you raise what you praise"), but the signal is that you lot must always exist purposeful, directly, and consistent. Information technology just makes a lot of sense! IIt'southward a swell training book with helpful pictures and easy to follow commands, simply information technology was organized in a strange way and also cutesy with the names (some command called "near is dearest" comes to mind and it merely makes me blench). Although I'd heard great things almost this book, I wasn't too impressed with it. Mostly, I think the organization of the book threw me off - information technology didn't seem to exist at that place at all. I just couldn't understand how it was organized (or more than chiefly, why it was organized that style). I compared the information in this book to the other 2 dog-training books I've been reading (Good Owners, Cracking Dogs and How to Raise a Puppy You Tin can Alive With), and the information seems to be on par with that found in Although I'd heard groovy things about this book, I wasn't besides impressed with it. Mostly, I think the organization of the book threw me off - it didn't seem to be there at all. I just couldn't understand how it was organized (or more than importantly, why it was organized that way). I compared the information in this book to the other two domestic dog-training books I've been reading (Practiced Owners, Groovy Dogs and How to Raise a Puppy You Can Alive With), and the information seems to be on par with that constitute in these two books. There are lots of movie demonstrations, which I think would be useful. Too, the book is very specific about problems that y'all may encounter and how to correct those problems - that would exist the merely reason I would return to this book. I really like this volume, as it offers some unique methods and games to grooming. It breaks dog training up into different levels and sections such as Trust, Touch, etc. It fifty-fifty includes a DVD that could potentially be useful, all the same, the dog trainers are a fiddling over the height happy for me. The i thing I wish would have been more thoroughly discussed is the order to do the training/games and how to know when to move on to the next level in the sections.
Overall, a nice approach to canis familiaris preparation.
I actually like this book, as it offers some unique methods and games to training. It breaks dog grooming up into different levels and sections such every bit Trust, Touch, etc. Information technology even includes a DVD that could potentially be useful, however, the dog trainers are a piffling over the superlative happy for me. The one thing I wish would have been more than thoroughly discussed is the order to practice the grooming/games and how to know when to move on to the next level in the sections.
Overall, a nice approach to domestic dog grooming. Ane of the games in the book taught my puppy to sit when she wanted something from me within a few minutes.

An indispensible guide to having a puppy. I love how in that location are bodily lessons to practice with your pup. My fav. propose that has kept me motivated to work with charlie is to avert the iv "s"'s when describing him - sneaky, stubborn, stupid or spiteful. But call up of him equally being dislocated! Yelping helped alot for nipping. An indispensible guide to having a puppy. I love how there are actual lessons to practice with your pup. though i am not currently in ownership of a puppy --or a canis familiaris for that thing-- i keep hanging on to my dreams. anytime.....when i do go that management and again at to the lowest degree take on the foster care side of dog ownership, this book will be a treasure in helping me to get through sticky situations, and tackle common canis familiaris problems. it's a real slice of gold for those headed towards adding a new puppy to their home. swell advice!though i am not currently in buying of a puppy --or a dog for that matter-- i keep hanging on to my dreams. anytime.....when i do go that direction and one time again at to the lowest degree take on the foster intendance side of dog buying, this book will be a treasure in helping me to become through glutinous situations, and tackle common dog problems. it's a real piece of gold for those headed towards adding a new puppy to their home. great advice! ...more than

There are some good things in here: You get what yous pet and you raise what y'all praise. Become to 'Good!'
Overall, some things I agree with, a lot that I don't. A little besides 'precious' with all the cutesy names. I call back they were trying to come up with catchy names that would go far easier to recollect training aspects, but it was besides much for me.
I tin't endorse a volume that says pronged collars are good for certain situations.
In that location are some good things in here: Y'all get what y'all pet and you raise what you praise. Get to 'Practiced!'

I really merely skimmed this volume, by and large to come across how much I may take screwed up my current dog by not having ever trained her. The truth? Non much. She has far fewer complexes than many dogs. We really lucked out. Merely this book should come in really handy whenever we get a new dog...or if I have to train the neighbor's domestic dog that keeps jumping the fence, practically living in our yard, chewing upward our kids' toys, and digging holes around our trampoline.I actually but skimmed this volume, by and large to meet how much I may have screwed up my current dog by not having ever trained her. This is a great book for new puppy owners! Non all of the information will be pertinent to your specific puppy as information technology is laid out by puppy personality, age, and grooming level, but the layout is easy to navigate. Even if yous don't have time to read the whole book, you lot can larn a lot past devoting a small amount of time to this book. In that location is a very positive vibe throughout, even when discussing your puppy's(our your) mistakes. This is a smashing book for new puppy owners! I loved loved loved Adept Owners Great Dogs-- fabulously humane methods of agreement dogs and so nosotros tin train together successfully. This book was a chip on the disappointing side--BUT the DVD that came with it: worth every penny of the toll of the volume. AMAZING pups being trained in the necessary basics in minutes. Dogs are so smart. Now, if owners had one-half the brains and fifty-fifty a quarter of the heart that dogs do, we'd all exist in a ameliorate place. I loved loved loved Good Owners Keen Dogs-- fabulously humane methods of understanding dogs so we can train together successfully. This volume was a bit on the disappointing side--BUT the DVD that came with information technology: worth every penny of the cost of the book. This volume might be great if you take a larger breed dog, but for mid-size to smaller it is only vaguely useful. Likewise the organization of the book is illogical and confusing, referencing things way farther into the book. The authors should follow the progression of problems with historic period and include their solutions at that time. I would not recommend this volume to anyone. By the time I read this book, I could accept looked online for a multitude of solutions.
